Privacy Policy for Native Auto Dark Toggle

Effective date: April 26, 2026

Native Auto Dark Toggle gives users per-tab and current-session controls for Chrome's native automatic dark mode renderer.

Data the extension handles

Native Auto Dark Toggle uses Chrome extension APIs to identify the active tab, determine whether a tab is a normal web page where the extension can run, and apply Chrome's native automatic dark mode override when the user requests it.

The extension may use tab URL and title information locally inside the browser only for these purposes:

  1. Determining whether the current page is supported.
  2. Applying native auto-dark mode to the selected tab.
  3. Applying native auto-dark mode to normal tabs when the user enables session-wide mode.
  4. Showing extension state in the popup.

Data the extension stores

Native Auto Dark Toggle stores temporary session state using Chrome's session storage. This may include:

  1. Whether session-wide native auto-dark mode is enabled.
  2. Which temporary Chrome tab IDs currently have native auto-dark mode enabled.

The extension does not store URLs, page titles, website content, browsing history, personal information, credentials, cookies, or user activity logs.

Data the extension does not collect

Native Auto Dark Toggle does not collect, transmit, sell, rent, or share user data.

The extension does not:

  1. Send data to any external server.
  2. Use analytics.
  3. Track users across websites.
  4. Read or store website content.
  5. Read or store personal communications.
  6. Read or store authentication data.
  7. Monitor clicks, keystrokes, mouse movement, scrolling, or form input.
  8. Use data for advertising.
  9. Sell or transfer user data to third parties.

Debugger permission

Native Auto Dark Toggle uses Chrome's debugger API only to call Chrome DevTools Protocol's native automatic dark mode command for tabs: Emulation.setAutoDarkModeOverride.

The extension does not use debugger access to inspect page content, monitor network requests, read cookies, modify the DOM, or collect data.

Remote code

Native Auto Dark Toggle does not use remote code. All JavaScript, HTML, CSS, icons, and logic are included in the extension package submitted to the Chrome Web Store.

Data sharing

Native Auto Dark Toggle does not share user data with third parties.

Data retention

Native Auto Dark Toggle uses temporary browser session storage. Session state resets when Chrome restarts. The extension does not maintain a persistent user profile or long-term browsing record.
